I grew up in Bundaberg Queensland. It is the home of Bundaberg Rum, which I don’t drink though. I highly recommend Bundaberg Brewed Drinks, for their Ginger Beer and Burgundee.
In my opinion, Bundaberg has the best beaches in Queensland, something for everyone including Mon Repos Turtle Centre because who doesn’t love turtles?
I have lived in Rockhampton, Biloela, and Emerald but Bundaberg is and always will be home. The “big smoke” is not for me. I am passionate about sports and am one of many volunteers at a local soccer club. I have a relatively new love of stand-up paddle-boarding and CrossFit. My bucket-list items include travelling around Australia in a custom motor home and doing a 5–7 day hiking trek challenge.
My professional career, and beyond
On a professional note, I completed my accounting degree in 2001 and became a full member of CPA Australia in 2004. I started my own accounting practice in May 2005 in Emerald Queensland. With time, my practice has evolved into Just You Accounting which since 2014 has been based in Bundaberg. I am very fortunate to be in a position to be self-employed. It has allowed me so much flexibility to see and experience things that would not have been possible otherwise. In the future, I intend for my practice to continue to evolve with the changing needs of myself and my clients.
